Cannon Thoroughbreds’ Smooth Like Strait, beaten a nose and a neck in his 2022 debut in Friday’s Maker’s Mark Mile (G1), came out of the race in good order, according to trainer Michael McCarthy. Smooth Like Strait returned to Churchill Downs after the race. McCarthy said, “We are waiting for the dust to settle for a few days before we make any decisions (on a possible start in the May 7 Old Forester Bourbon Turf Classic).”
